Power BI Developer in Houston, TX - 803

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will report directly to the Manager of Integrations, Databases and Reporting. You will develop in-depth knowledge of each business function’s objectives in order to implement and maintain actionable reporting. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing, deploying and maintaining the current Power BI reporting suite, including responsibilities such as:
    • Work with business to users to develop new reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards based on business needs
    • Maintaining existing reporting and updating as needed
    • Implementing and maintaining reporting and data security at different levels
    • Training business users on how to best leverage the Power BI dashboards
  • Power BI Administration
  • Developing and maintaining data transformation scripts
  • Identifying, acquiring, synthesizing, and analyzing relevant data for reporting
  • Identifying relationships among multiple data sources and organizing information to facilitate effective data analysis
  • Integrating data from new sources
  • Navigating complex database models to generate meaningful statistics at various levels of detail
  • Reviewing and providing quality control for report development
  • Collaborating to maintain the data warehouse and implement best practices

 Basic Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s Degree in business, math, computer science, engineering or related field

  • 4+ years of experience in analytics, data management, software development, finance, consulting, or other relevant field with an emphasis on using technology to solve complex problems
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment

 Required Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Power BI and similar visualization and reporting tools, including the ability to create DAX calculations, administration of Power BI, building dashboards, creating gateways, and managing data set connections
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Azure SQL, Oracle SQL and MongoDB databases
  • Proficient in SQL-based query languages (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL) including an understanding of how data warehouses are set up, development of views or queries to be used for data visualizations, and data transformation techniques required to model data
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills
  • Possess a general understanding of financial, accounting and operations principles
  • Able to produce high quality work product under strict deadlines
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work and communicate effectively with business teams
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Adaptability in handling multiple evolving tasks
  • Highly motivated, hard-working, eager to learn and able to motivate others

 Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in the oil and gas industry
  • Proficient with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, VBA) as they pertain to data parsing/cleansing, ETL, and process automation
  • Familiarity with integration tools (e.g., Boomi, Zapier, MuleSoft)
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce
  • Experience implementing data standards and best practices in a growing organization
